Get Sleep in December

Don’t Miss the ZZZs

It’s the end of December, and the holiday season is in full swing.
The days are short (though finally getting longer). The city’s loud.
And the calendar is packed with holiday gatherings, late dinners, early mornings, and “just one more thing” before the year ends.

If your sleep feels off right now, it’s not just you—that’s December in NYC.

When Sleep Slips, Everything Feels Harder

We’ll be honest: We’ve had to intentionally catch up on sleep this week, too. When we don’t, we feel it immediately—workouts feel heavier, recovery slows down, and everything takes more effort than it should. That’s always our reminder that sleep isn’t optional.

At TS, we see this every year.
When sleep slips, energy dips. Strength feels harder to access. Motivation gets harder to find.

So instead of trying to do more as Christmas approaches, here’s what actually helps right now.

Lower the Bar—Then Protect It

December isn’t the month for perfect sleep.
But it is the month for protecting enough sleep.

A consistent bedtime window and a few solid nights in a row go a long way. Do your best to get to bed around the same time each night—even if it’s not perfect.

Give Your Nervous System a Break

NYC doesn’t slow down—but you can.

Even 15–20 minutes without screens before bed helps your body shift out of go-mode.
Dim the lights. Breathe. Stretch. Let the day end.

Be Strategic With Caffeine

That afternoon coffee feels necessary—but it may be stealing from your night.

Cutting caffeine earlier in the day can be the difference between falling asleep easily or staring at the ceiling at midnight.

Stack Wins, Not Perfect Nights

One late night won’t undo you.
But a few “good enough” nights in a row? You’ll notice the benefits quickly—better energy, smoother workouts, and improved recovery.

Make Your Training Work With Your Schedule

Between work, travel, and holiday plans, flexibility matters. That’s why we offer morning, noon, and evening classes—so you can show up when it works for you.

Some movement, at the right time, beats no movement at all.

December Needs Recovery, Not Hustle

December doesn’t need more hustle.
It needs smarter recovery.

If things feel harder than usual right now, start with sleep. Protect it where you can. Your body will meet you halfway.
