A Day in My Life Outside the Gym

8:15 pm

People are always asking me what I do to keep feeling good, especially since I’m coaching, training, and on my feet for most of the day. The truth is, it’s not one magic recovery tool. It’s a bunch of small habits that add up.

Getting Outside and Moving

Every day, I make it a priority to get outside for a 20 to 30 minute walk. Not because I’m trying to burn calories, but because it helps me clear my head, get some fresh air, and keep my body moving.

Motion really is lotion. The more we move, the better our joints and muscles tend to feel.

Making Mobility a Habit

Hip mobility is another non-negotiable for me. If you’ve been in my classes, you’ve probably seen me doing the same few drills over and over.

Tight hips can affect everything from your squat to your lower back, so I spend a few minutes each day giving them some attention. Nothing fancy. Just consistency.

Listening to What My Body Needs

When something feels a little beat up, I don’t ignore it and hope it goes away. If something is sore after a tough workout, I’ll use ice to help calm it down. If I’m just feeling stiff from a long day or a hard week, I’ll usually use some heat to loosen things up before I get moving again.

Focusing on the Basics

Recovery also means paying attention to the basics. I try to stay hydrated, get enough protein, and make sleep a priority whenever I can.

Those things aren’t exciting, but they’re probably more important than any recovery gadget you’ll find online.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that recovery isn’t something you do after you’re already hurting. It’s something you build into your routine before your body starts asking for it.

Make Time for Mobility

If you’ve been feeling tight, stiff, or like your body needs a reset, don’t forget about my 30-minute Mobility class every Saturday at 1 PM. It’s one of the easiest ways to move better, recover, and feel ready for whatever the weekend has in store.

See you in the gym,
