Feast Smart
Thanksgiving is hands down one of my favorite days of the year.
The Super Bowl of eating. Family. Football. Food coma loading…
That said, it’s also one of the easiest days for one celebration to turn into a full weekend of “I’ll start Monday.”
So before the mashed potatoes start calling your name and the wine starts making decisions for you, here’s a Thanksgiving survival playbook to help you enjoy the holiday without waking up in a stuffing-induced spiral.
Let’s do this smart.
Move Your Body Before You Stuff It
You don’t need a full workout on Thanksgiving—but some movement goes a long way.
Train early if you can. Walk, lift, stretch, or even knock out some awkward living-room squats.
Just 15–20 minutes of movement can:
-
Boost your mood
-
Improve digestion
-
Help stabilize blood sugar before the big meal
Think of it as setting your body up to enjoy the feast, not “earning” your food.
Protein Is Your Bodyguard
Start your plate with turkey.
Protein helps you feel fuller, steadies energy levels, and keeps you from going full reckless-mode with mashed potatoes and rolls.
It doesn’t mean skipping your favorites—it just means leading with protein so the rest of your plate doesn’t run the show.
Choose Your Chaos (Don’t Try to Win Thanksgiving)
Pick one indulgence you really love and enjoy it.
Pie?
Mac & cheese?
Stuffing?
Amazing. Just don’t treat Thanksgiving like a competitive eating documentary.
Enjoy what matters most to you—and let the rest go.
Alcohol Has Main-Character Energy
Alcohol has a funny way of convincing you that every decision is a good one.
Every drink reduces decision-making ability by 32% (science-ish).
Try capping it at 2–3 drinks, or alternate with water—unless you want to be eating cold pie at 1am wondering how you got there.
Remember: one day doesn’t need to turn into a four-day bender.
Enjoy the Meal. Reset on Friday.
Thanksgiving is one day.
Eat. Laugh. Be present.
Then get back to your normal rhythm the next day—no guilt, no spirals, no punishment workouts.
Consistency over time matters far more than one meal ever will.
A Smarter Way to Enjoy Thanksgiving
May your plates be full and your regrets be minimal.
Eat. Laugh. Be grateful.
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
